Tidus Artorius, registered psychologist at Koalaful

Meet Tidus Artorius.

Tidus is a registered psychologist and the only clinician at Koalaful, so the person you meet at your first session is the person you keep working with.

He is registered with AHPRA and is a registered Medicare provider. He holds a double degree in counselling and psychology, and completed a Master of Clinical Psychology.

Behind the credentials, the approach is simple: pay attention, take you seriously, and do the real work together.

Real support, backed by evidence, delivered with warmth.

Therapy here is structured and evidence-based, but it never feels cold. Tidus works with you to find the real pattern that keeps you stuck, rather than handing out generic wellness advice.

You see the same psychologist every time. No rotating roster, no starting over with someone new. Just steady, focused work with a person who pays attention.

Depending on what you need, that might draw on cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), compassion-focused therapy (CFT) or psychodynamic work. You don't need to know what any of that means. Working out the right approach is Tidus's job.

Three simple steps to get started.

1

Send an enquiry

Fill in the short form below with a little about what is going on. Tidus reads every enquiry himself and gets back to you personally.

2

A free 15-minute chat

Tidus offers you a no-obligation 15-minute phone call, so you can get a feel for how he works and check the fit before committing to anything.

3

Your first session

When you're ready, you book in. Together you take time to understand what is going on for you, and agree on a direction. No pressure, no jargon.

A GP Mental Health Treatment Plan can reduce the gap fee through Medicare rebates. Tidus can talk you through how it works.

Some things are hard to carry on your own.

Maybe the worry won't switch off. Maybe a flatness has crept in, and things you used to enjoy have lost their colour. Or maybe you've been holding something heavy for a long time, and you're tired of holding it alone.

You don't need to be in crisis to reach out, and you don't need to be "bad enough". You don't need the right words for it yet either. Wherever you are right now is a fine place to begin.

Bring your whole self. You're welcome here.

Koalaful offers LGBTQIA+ affirming, neuro-affirming and culturally inclusive care, with genuine understanding rather than a box ticked.

This is a place to be met with respect and warmth, exactly as you are, whoever you are. We welcome the whole you.

Before you get in touch.

What if I don't click with Tidus?

That matters, and it is a fair thing to wonder. The free 15-minute call is there so you can get a feel for how he works before you book. Fit is part of what makes therapy work.

Do I need a GP referral?

You don't need one to enquire or to book. If you would like Medicare rebates, you will need a GP Mental Health Treatment Plan, and we can point you in the right direction.

What does it cost, and are rebates available?

The cost of a session is $255 for a standard 45 to 50 minute appointment, set below the nationally recommended rate. You don't need a GP referral to book. With a GP Mental Health Treatment Plan you can claim a Medicare rebate, which reduces the out-of-pocket gap. A limited number of concession appointments are available for holders of a valid healthcare card or eligible full-time student card, so please ask about current availability.

Is it in person or online?

In person only, at the rooms in Canberra CBD. Face-to-face is how Tidus works best with clients.

Do I need to have everything figured out first?

Not at all. Most people arrive unsure how to put it into words. Working that out is part of what you do together.

Is it confidential?

Yes. What you talk about stays private, within the standard professional and legal limits, which Tidus will explain up front.
